Designs catch our attention, build and the feel of a sock convinces us to buy. We all know what or how we want a sock to feel when we put it on our feet. We determine the worth of a sock by the material and likability. So most of us, go to big department stores or shop online retailers to get the best sock for a decent price. What if I told you, “You can find steals on socks inside of discount chain stores, like a Ross, Burlington Coat factory or T.J. Max for really low prices.”? Well it is true and I found a really great Brand of socks that I never even heard of: Basic Resources
What Is a Basic Resource Sock?
What is a “Basic Resource?” I simply think of it as something we need to survive. Now I would go that far to consider this sock something I would need to live on planet Earth. This Basic Resource is a privately held, global manufacturer of Men’s, Women’s and children’s branded and private label underwear, loungewear and legwear. They have produce brands such as “And1”, “Body Glove”, “VanHeusen”, Lucky Brand”, just to name a few. BR, Inc. is a growing force in today’s competitive fashion marketplace with distributions ranging from department and specialty stores.
However, I managed to find a 3-pack of Basic Resources skull and stripes socks at Ross. I tend to give every sock brand a try even if I never heard of them. Anyone that’s ever shopped at Ross before would know that it is hard to find anything in that store. Persistence paid off and I found a brand that has won me over. The Basic Resource socks I found has a reinforced heel and toe area, along with a smooth toe seam. It’s a crew length, and has a fun or playful them to it. The packaging would suggest you picked up a casual pair of socks that can be worn with a nice sneaker or slip on. The sock is made up of mostly Polyester (95%) material with a subtle hint of spandex (5%), for fitment purposes.
Like I stated in my luxury sock post, I would not consider this a luxury sock because of its material makeup (too much polyester), but the feel of this sock on your feet states otherwise. Slipping them on, I thought to myself for the amount of money I spent on these, I am sure to be disappoint in one form or another. I have yet, to find a single issue with this sock and I have three pair of them. The comfort level is on par with those of an Arthur George sock, the quality is on par with the likes of a Stance sock. So over all this sock can carry its weight against the big boys. If there is one minor drawback (and this is totally opinionated) is the lack of thickness. Which in some peoples’ eyes… it is not a drawback at all. It all goes back to the rules of buying socks, “Buy what you like.”
Truly an amazing feeling and comfortable sock and while I got them for a mere $3.99 for a three pack some would say that’s a deal. I would call it a steal!!! I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a bargain deal on some great designed or comfortable socks, but calling it necessity is going a bit too far. Stop by your local Ross or Target to see what kind of deals you may run in to. Just remember where you found out about Basic Resources first: Here on Soxplusshoes.com
